On the evening of 20 June, 16 members of ELAPs squashed into a mini bus which winged its way to Cotgrave Golf Club for the NANDA Play of the Year Dinner 2008 (thanks to Sharon Torr for organising the bus).
The meal was very nice and then we settled down to listen to a round up of the plays from the Adjudicator, which, I personally felt, was much better than in previous NANDA dinners.
When he came to ELAPs, his comments were very pleasing which raised our hopes for the next part of the agenda, the prize giving.
Well, we finally managed to get our first trophy; BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR/ACTRESS - KEITH BENEDICT
And you can imagine the loud cheer that went up. We're all very proud of him. WELL DONE!
I have attached the winners of the evening and how the Adjudicator scored each production and they can be found in the Members Section. I think this is very useful and gives us what we need to work on for future productions.
Now we have to do better in 2009 (what a challenge!).

Hi Everyone
Well this is my first note on the website as the Director of the ELAPs 2008 Pantomime.
Right, well it's all hands to the pumps to get this show on the road, and the first item is to let you know that the script and audition pieces are available on the web in the Members Section.
Keith Benedict will be my RightHand man, so if you're unable to speak to me about any aspect of the panto then please ask him any queries you might have.
Keith and I will be meeting up this Thursday and will attempt to put a production date in the diary. If you are able to help in any way; Backstage, Front of House, Refreshments, Set Design, props then please don't wait to be asked. You all know by now what it takes to get a production moving and it would be helpful to have people rushing to us to get their names in the frame.
Those of you who know the way I work, will know that I'm at least six months behind my own preparation schedule for directing a panto, so please be patient with me if I'm not fully au fait with the script details, but I am working on it, honest!
Also, remember that the WORKSHOPS start this Thursday (26 June) for three weeks. They are always good fun and it will great to see as many of you there as possible.
Well, I'd better let you get off to read the script, so GET READING AND PRACTICING FOR THE AUDITIONS!

Dear Elaps,
After several weeks of consideration it is with a great deal of sadness that I inform you of my resignation from my role of group director and committee member of the group.
I would have liked to deliver this news in person, but unfortunately my current work pattern followed by my Holiday would have made my next available Thursday 26th June, which is too late.
Don't think that this is just due to prompting issues, I have several reasons. After appearing in 14 different productions over 50 performances in 8 years it's time for a rest.
I still intend to support the group by continuing to host the website, as it no longer costs me to host it, and will aim to be a regular in the audience for many years to come.
I wish you success in everything that you do, and hope that the 10th birthday celebrations are a hit.
Maybe one day I shall return
